If we were having coffee, I’d come late and exasperated and exhausted, as that’s my daily mood as of late. #sorrynotsorry
I’d opt for something refreshing, iced tea lemonade? Iced decaf latte? Hmm. I’m in a funk lately and need to be uplifted. Cold drinks do that. Yum maybe a frappuccino. Spring please? Not just the date, the weather too.
If we were having coffee, I’d ask you to just listen, I need a friend extra lately. Parenting can be so hard and so messy. Think about it. It’s the only thing you’re ever thrown into that no one teaches you and prepares you for. Let’s be clear: all that “advice” you get when you’re the size of a beluga isn’t actually helpful or beneficial in preparation. We’re expected to take these little people, not screw them up, love them, then throw them into society still as what I consider little people and hope they don’t fall flat. Pressure, much? The older they get the harder they get. Yes new mamas, hate to break it to you, but there are much much worse things ahead than spit up shirt at Starbucks and no sleep. And heck my kids aren’t even teenagers yet! (Still excited for this by the way …. and scared – 3 all.at.once).
If we were having coffee, I’d talk to you about all that is going on in the world. Lately it’s been hitting me extra hard and I worry about my family, the future, and people all around us. We need love, unity, and safety. Sounds simple enough, huh?
If we were having coffee, I’d probably start crying. I’ve been pushed and pulled and torn in a million directions this past month. Every ounce of my patience and love has been tested with the absolute most important relationships I have. I’d thank you for listening and then beg you to change the topic. I need air.
If we were having coffee, I’d obsessively talk about my new blog design. Seriously I’m loving on it so hard and finally feel like I’m ready to move forward with a bunch of big plans I have! I’ve been working on my photography and editing skills and although I have a LONG way to go, I’m pretty happy with the progress.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you all about our current house renovation updates and plans I’m starting to make!
If we were having coffee, I’d ask about your plans for Easter. Caleb always gets the day off, so the extra time with him is so nice, although we always miss Carson and Ava as it’s not our holiday with them. We’ll be headed to Church, an egg hunt after Mass, then see both Caleb’s mom who will be in town this week and my family. I’m so looking forward for a nice weekend! What about you, what are your plans?
If we were having coffee, I’d stay longer than I should because I so needed your company this week.
But, dear friend, how are YOU? Did those test results tell you what you wanted to hear? Did that meeting go well? How is your spouse? Are the kids staying healthy? I miss you and I’m so glad you could escape for minute to join me today. I can’t wait to do it again.
