Coffee Dates | 1

Let’s talk.

If we were having coffee, I’d be drinking a decaf white mocha with caramel drizzle, but wishing it was a non fat green tea latte with whip cream. Dang you extra caffeine. I want you and regret  you all at the same time.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you I’m so not looking forward to this week at work. My students tested last week and now I need to spend all week analyzing the data. I could spend hours venting about the good, the bad, and the absolute ugly of it all. I’ll spare you. But I promise, for as grumpy as students are, teachers are possibly worse.

If we were having coffee, I’d confess to you that I’m so ready to wean Harvey, but pulling the trigger makes me sad. Lasts are so hard. No one talks about lasts. I should talk about lasts. Why can’t motherhood just be easy?

If we were having coffee, I’d avoid talking about the remodels and DIY projects. Too frustrating for Caleb and me. There’s always something getting in the way of progress.

If we were having coffee, I’d talk non stop about all the wonderful things the kids are doing. Ava’s volleyball is over now, but she did great this season! Such a natural athlete. Carson is really figuring out who he is, Boy Scouts, trombone, Minecraft, crossing patrol. So busy! Jack is all about video games, still loves his running and contemplating baseball. Thankfully, you’ll listen nicely. Even if I talk too much about my kids.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m glad to breathe for a minute. I thought we were busy before, but now the kids have schedules and lives of their own! I’m thankful every moment Caleb and I can sneak in a moment of quiet. I know, I know. These are the days, but I’m tired too.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you about the amazing gyros I made a few weeks ago. Seriously, here’s the recipe, go make them. Except leave the mint out and make a double batch. Trust me. This whole gyros thing is new to me, but I’m hooked now.

If we were having coffee, I’d talk about our Holiday plans, which are currently non-existent. With a rotating schedule of where Carson and Ava go we usually don’t get it figured out till last minute. I’m a procrastinator, but I work best under pressure. What about your plans?

If we were having coffee, I’d be so happy because it doesn’t happen anywhere near enough and I miss you. Like really miss you. I’d ask all about your job, the kids, your house. What’s bothering you? Are you ok? Like really ok?

Tell me everything. Let’s drink to friendship!
