I fully realize that my September goals update should’ve happened sooner, but there were far more important things to talk about, so today I’m checking in on my progress of my yearly goals as well as our fall bucket list!
goal 1: be more positive with the children & encourage their growth.
We’re still doing table topics, however we will be needing a new jar. This one spontaneously combusted. JK. It was dropped on the kitchen tile. Long story. Another post for another day.
We also instigated family game night again. That was great! Snacks, games, no devices, just the big kids. The season has also come where it’s all about the kids, their homework & school, and their activities, so yea we’re succeeding the parenting department lately. (Just maybe no where else.)
goal 2: be more creative and allow time for the projects we have and want to have.
… um, I embossed positivity postcards for my students. Yea. Like I said, no where else.
goal 3: dates. more dates.
Does lunch dates count? With the baby around? We may not have made it out of the house alone all month, but now that the kids are in school and my classes have settled in, we’re back to our daily lunch dates! We just have the little bean in tow now too. Usually we’re at home, but occasionally we’ll go out if we have an errand to run. Caleb even introduced me to gyros! We will be making these at home, now. Um yum! Now back to my rock, I go.
goal 4: finish grad school.
Complete read here.
goal 5: document life more. it all goes so fast.
Blogging every day (sometimes twice) really is good for the documentation factor. The sanity? Not so much. Either way I’m calling this one a success this month!
goal 6: find and stick to a prayer schedule.
Why I struggle so much with this one I don’t know. It always brings me happiness and contentment for the rest of my day. It puts me in a good place. Sometimes I think I really have my priorities mixed up. Deadlines and due dates come before the real important stuff. It shouldn’t be like that, but I think we all get caught up in that from time to time. I just feel like I’m really in that right now. I’m giving myself an A for effort, but an F for follow through.
Well, I managed to get one thing crossed off our Fall Bucket List! Thankfully it’s only been a few weeks.
Church Festival – read more!
Pumpkin Fest is the weekend, Caleb has the day off, and my parents are ready to babysit so unless some natural disaster strikes, we can cross that one off!
And Caleb’s long overdue birthday present is … well … being reevaluated by the birthday boy himself. So we’ll see if that ever gets crossed off.
All in all, it was an utterly crazy month and with October already in motion and the holidays upon us I know the rest of 2016 is going to fly by!
Are you ready for it? Have you started holiday planning? Shopping? Making?
Love to hear your plans!
